"Dear Scott,
I married my husband two years ago; he has been a firefighter for ten years. We have just had our first baby boy two months ago, his name is Paul. My husband has always spoke highly of being a firefighter and the "brotherhood" family that he is apart of. I often think about the real life risks he takes every time he walks out the door to go to work. A 24 hour shift is a long time to worry about your husband's safety. I went to the FDIC Convention held in Indianapolis for the first time since we've been together. I never realized how big the fire service is and what all is involved right down to all the equipment. Scott the reason for my letter is as we were walking through the main hall I glanced into the room where your booth was and saw your paintings. My husband and I walked in to take a look. I have never felt so in awe from anything in my life than when I saw the painting of the little boy dressed in a fire uniform "Heroes" I read the quote you had written and it made me cry. I stood in front of your painting feeling so proud that my husband was a firefighter it was as if it all made perfect sense now. The little boys face was so innocent. To think my husband could be saving a life was such an overwhelming feeling. You have put it all in perspective. You have completely changed my feelings about my husband going to work at the station. I am very proud to say my husband is a firefighter 'Hero.'
Thank you Scott." - Baltimore, MD
